Ten Essential Summer 2013 Rock Tours

Summer is almost here and that means lounging on a towel or swimming at the beach, enjoying beers among friends while at the rooftop bars, and going to see your favorite artist's summer tours.

With so many options to choose from, it will be hard to decide which acts you have to see and which acts to axe.

From a throwback 70's band's celebration tour, a brother/cousin southern rock band, a young country/ rock hybrid newcomer, to the ultimate jam-stoner band, this summer has all sorts of shows you'll want to attend.

The choices are many but your money might not be as plentiful, so that's why we here at CHARGED.fm have compiled a list of the top 10 most anticipated rock tours for this coming summer.

Check out our picks and let us know if you agree with the must-see tours and artists for summer 2013.

Bruce Springsteen.

This summer Springsteen will be bringing his New Jersey-bred awesomeness overseas. The singer will embark upon a 25+ date tour around Europe this summer.

Fleetwood Mac

Next up, we have Fleetwood Mac. The band has begun a 48-city tour around the US which ends in California at the beginning of July. The band will most likely be playing songs from their recently released four-track EP titled Extended Play

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

Kicking it off right, Petty and his band start their 17-show tour with three nights at the Beacon Theater right here in NYC. Along the way, the band will be making some festival appearances, most notably at Bonnaroo. During the tour they will be having a six-night residency at the Henry Ford Theater in Los Angeles, California.

Bon Jovi

Adding some more Jersey flair to the list, Bon Jovi embarks on the "Because We Can" tour which begins over in Europe hitting Ireland, England, Italy, Germany and many more. Bon Jovi will be ending the tour, as he always does, with two shows at Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ in July.

Hunter Hayes

Hitting the road with The Script and Gavin DeGraw, Train have announced their "Mermaids of Alcatraz Tour" which includes 19 headlining shows in just over a month. The shows kick off on July 17 and will continue until the middle of August.

Kings of Leon

After confirming that a new album is on the way, southern rockers Kings of Leon have announced a summer tour. However, unless you're living/visiting overseas, you probably won't be able to catch the band until they, inevitably, tour this fall. They're playing only three shows in the US, two of which have already passed, and the third is as part of the Governor's Ball Festival.

Dave Matthews Band

In no surprise to anyone in existence, Dave Matthews Band announced his upcoming summer tour. The band will be playing 45 shows over the course of the middle of May until the beginning of September. As expected, DMB seems the be the most anticipated of the summer tours because of his always faithful cult following.

The concerts are expected to be filled with either one of two types of fans. You will be surrounded either by the tie-dye clad, grungy looking, hippie, super DMB fans who will sway along to the music in a sense of stoned happiness or the super preppy, bro-tastic DMB mega-fans in their Ralph Lauren polos and pastel shorts drunkenly screeching along to the lyrics. Granted DMB does put on an amazing live show, just prepare yourselves for the unbearable fans you will most surely be surrounded by.
