Douchebags, Donuts and Denis Leary

The actor and comedian is getting into business with USA Network, writing books, touring, and creating great shows.

Douchebags, Donuts and Denis Leary

Denis Leary is stealing a splash of summer’s sunshine as he concludes his dark eight-season series “Rescue Me.”  In response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Leary took a more serious route in 2004 by co-creating and starring on the show about a fireman full of hurt.  The born-to-cackle comedian recently decided to lighten the mood by collaborating with Jim Serpico and USA Network to develop their own version of a UK series called “Sirens.”   The six-part British comedy show is about young paramedics, and was originally created by Brian Fillis, according to Hollywood Reporter.  It is based on EMT Paramedic Tom Reynold’s book called Blood, Sweat and Tea.

Though it is always better to laugh, remember to appreciate the final nine episodes of Rescue Me, which begin July 13.  Beyond that show, but still involving Leary’s co-stars

Lenny Clarke and Adam Ferrara, “Douchebags and Donuts” is also available on DVD. Proceeds for the hour stand-up Comedy Central special will benefit The Leary Firefighters Foundation, according to the star’s site.

Leary is also the author of “Suck on This Year” and “Why We Suck”—both of which are snarky feel-good books recognized by the New York Times.

The well-rounded actor and comedian is currently touring in New Jersey and Connecticut. He will be performing in New York City on Sunday, July 10 at 7 p.m. at Palace Theatre Albany.
