NBA Highlight of the Night - Shump with the Put-back

by Photo of Ross Bernhardt

Iman Shumpert provided the most exciting finish with his put-back dunk against the Pacers.

The New York Knicks absolutely needed a win last night against the Indiana Pacers, and did they ever get it. The Knicks crushed Indiana 105-95 behind Carmelo Anthony's 32 points and a strong team effort all around. The series will head back to Indiana on Saturday tied 1-1.

That team effort started with Iman Shumpert, who has really played well for the Knicks all postseason long. His energy has helped key runs and his on-ball defense has made opponents work. Last night was another solid game for Shumpert, who finished with 15 points, six rebounds and three assists in 29 minutes of action. His biggest contribution came in the form of a fantastic put-back dunk in the second quarter.

With the Knicks up by nine, Chris Copeland missed a three that caromed towards the foul line. Shumpert was crashing the glass hard and caught the ball well behind his head before he threw it down with conviction. TNT announcer Kevin Harlan asked, "What ACL rehab?" after the fourth replay of the dunk, and it definitely is the kind of play that makes you forget that he is only slightly over a year removed from tearing his ACL in the first round of last year's playoffs against the Miami Heat. When Shumpert is attacking and making plays like this, he adds a different dimension to this Knicks team, and they are going to need him to keep playing with this kind of energy and intensity the rest of the postseason.
