Folk duo The Civil Wars have announced they're releasing a new album this year, expected to be out late summer of 2013.

The duo, comprised of John Paul White and Joy Williams, canceled concerts and took a hiatus during November of last year due to "internal discord and irreconcilable differences of ambition." When they announced their hiatus, the expressed hope that they would bring new music to the world in 2013.

It looks like the time apart had a positive impact upon the duo who both released individual handwritten statements on their official website regarding their self-titled album coming later this year.

White's comments stated "Patience is a virtue. Yours has been appreciated. Here's to the hope you consider it rewarded."

Williams, on the other hand, had a little bit more to say to the fans.

"If you are reading this, I want to thank you for taking the time. I'm grateful for your patient support. I am very glad to say that new music is coming & I am fiercely proud of this album. A lot of soul, sweat, & tears went into its creation. I hope you feel the heart in each song, that it might connect with yours. We are, each one of us, all journeying, learning, and growing along this ever-evolving path. Hope this note finds you well, wherever you are."

The hiatus was a surprise to almost every fan after the success of their debut album Barton Hollow, which won two Grammys, and their successful collaboration with Taylor Swift for The Hunger Games soundtrack.
