American Country Music Awards Recap

Last night, the American Country Music Awards were held in Las Vegas and everyone who is anyone was in attendance. This included Lady Antebellum singer Hillary Scott, who is very pregnant.

Hosted by Blake Shelton, the only country boy whom I like (thanks to The Voice), and rising country star Luke Bryan, the awards seemed to be a hit to all who watched.

Like most awards shows, there were surprises and upsets in some of the categories. Luke Bryan took home the big award of the night, which was apparently a surprise to nobody but him, winning Entertainer of the Year. This award is fan-voted which pretty much explains why Taylor Swift has won the last two years.

Miranda Lambert, who is married to Blake Shelton, and let me just say they make an adorable couple, was the big winner of the night taking home three awards including Female Vocalist of the Year, Single Record of the Year, AND Song of the Year for "Over You".

The most surprising event, however, was that Taylor Swift didn't win any awards. First time for everything, I guess? All jokes aside, Swift made good on a promise that she made one year ago to bring Kevin McGuire, who's sister started an internet campaign that went viral asking Swift to go to prom with her brother, to the awards show.

The show was filled with performances by most in attendance, among them were; Carrie Underwood who belted out her song "Two Black Cadillacs" ....with two black Cadillacs on the stage, Garth Brooks and George Strait made an appearance singing in honor of Dick Clark, and The Band Perry rocked their song "Done" out to pyrotechnics and a lot of jumping about.

The big performance of the night was when three of country music's biggest names got together. Keith Urban, Tim McGraw and Taylor Swift performed McGraw's "Highway Don't Care". After watching the performance, which is below for your viewing pleasure, I thought that the stage looked pretty cool. Also, be sure not to miss Swift's odd 'wiggly-sexy' move around the two minute mark.

All in all, the show was a major spectacle for country music and was enjoyed by all in attendance (and watching on TV).

The winners for the rest of the night are as follows:
