NBA Highlight of the Night: Return of the King

LeBron’s monster jam over Jason Terry helped kickstart the Heat to their 23rd straight win.

The Miami Heat really haven't been tested a whole lot over the course of their now 23-game winning streak. Only nine of those games have been decided by fewer than 10 points, and even though they have seen some close calls, Miami has basically cruised through the last month and a half.

Last night's tilt with the Boston Celtics was an exception, though. Playing without Kevin Garnett, Boston gave Miami everything they had. Jeff Green exploded for 26 points in the first half as the Celtics blitzed the Heat early and got out to a huge lead. It seemed like if it were ever a time for the Heat to lose a game, this would be it.

But then LeBron James threw down a monster dunk late in the second quarter over Jason Terry, stood over him while he was on the ground, and earned a technical foul for his taunt. That play, in my opinion, changed the entire complexion of the game. Boston was able to maintain that large lead for a while but Miami surged back right before the half. It was a back-and-forth game for the remainder until James hit the game-winner to put Miami over the top.

As far as the dunk itself is concerned, it wasn't as impressive as DeAndre Jordan's finish last week, but it was just as emphatic. Just watching James rise and finish with authority like that is amazing. Terry made the right play trying to disrupt the finish, but he didn't stand a chance.
