Lakers Win Despite Kobe's 4 Points

The Black Mamba was held in check last night, but Los Angeles still got a victory over the Suns.

Lakers Win Despite Kobe's 4 Points

The Los Angeles Lakers took down the Phoenix Suns last night at the Staples Center 91-85 behind strong games from Dwight Howard (19 points, 18 rebound), Antawn Jamison (19 points, 10 rebounds off the bench) and Metta World Peace (17 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals). Surprisingly out of the picture for Los Angeles? Kobe Bryant. The Mamba scored just 4 points on 1-8 shooting in 36 minutes of action and committed 8 turnovers (though he did dish out a team-leading 9 assists).

How rare is it to keep Kobe to single digits when he still plays quite a lot? Pretty rare. According to Basketball Reference, Kobe Bryant has scored in single digits just eight times when he has played 30-plus minutes. Last night was his lowest scoring output when playing at least 30 minutes, and his teams have won only half of its games when this happens. Kobe has played in 1,214 games, so yeah, this is quite the rarity.

Also of note from last night, how awesome are those old-school black Phoenix Suns jerseys? They should really go back to that logo because those jerseys are phenomenal.

Final piece of important information: here's video of Will Ferrell (as usher "Ted Vagina") escorting Shaquille O'Neal out of the Staples Center. (via Awful Announcing)

Never change, Will Ferrell.
