"12-12-12" Hurricane Relief Concert

Harvey Weinstein is producing an all-star Hurricane Sandy Relief concert, “12-12-12”.

After New York City survived its worse natural devastation to date, Harvey Weinstein is putting together yet another all star relief concert. Hurricane Sandy hit the city in ways that could never be imagined by city folk. Almost three weeks later, things are still not completely back to normal. A great deal of New Yorkers are still without power, heat and electricity, a number of schools have yet to reopen because of the damage and debris, gas lines are still two and three blocks long and areas that were hit the worse such as Coney Island, Red hook and Far Rockaway are still in major need of help. Putting no blind eye to this need, Harvey Weinstein along with John Sykes and Jim Dolan of Cablevision , will produce the concert to raise money for the Robin Hood Relief Fund to aid Victims of Hurricane Sandy. The concert is already said to be graced by the likes of Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Alicia Keys, Kanye West,  Bon Jovi, Billy Joel and Roger Waters.

Weinstein is no novice to helping New Yorkers out in a time of need. In 2001, Harvey produced a similar show for New York right after September 11th. With his previous experience in producing a concert of such great magnitude, "12-12-12", which is set to take place on December 12, 2012 at Madison Square Garden, is sure to be a "showcase of music royalty."  Event producers James Dolan, John Sykes and Harvey Weinstein issued the following joint statement: “‘12-12-12’ is shaping up to be a showcase of music royalty. The response from the entertainment community to help those most affected by Hurricane Sandy has been nothing short of astounding. We expect to announce additional legendary performers in the near future and we are confident that the event will ensure those in need will not be forgotten, and vital aid will be directed to rebuilding our communities along the East Coast.”
