Twitchfilm.com reported that Wes Anderson is already putting together the cast for a new film, following the success of his latest movie: Moonrise Kingdom. Rumor has it that the director already approached Johnny Depp about appearing in the upcoming film.
The role could be a great opportunity for Depp, who's recent collaboration with Tim Burton on Dark Shadows flopped at the box office. Depp is currently working on the movie, The Lone Ranger, which is reportedly already over budget and plagued by production difficulties.
It's difficult to imagine Depp in an Anderson movie. The actor is best known for his over-the-top outrageous characters. That may not translate well into Anderson's style of humor, more often intended to illicit a smirk instead of a laugh. Still, the director has a way of taking actors with a signature voice (i.e. Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Bruce Willis) and making them fit into his movies.
Besides seeking out Depp, Anderson has also approached his usual stand-byes like Murray, Wilson, Edward Norton, Willem Dafoe, Adrien Brody, And Jeff Goldblum. It's also rumored that Jude Law and Angela Landsbury will appear in the film.
So far, there's only speculation about an upcoming Wes Anderson film. But if Depp does come on board, I wonder if he'll bring along his Jack Sparrow outfit?
