Childish Gambino
No upcoming event
Tina Fey is one of the more talented people in show business. Her show “30 Rock” is an Emmy-winner and had one of its strongest seasons yet. She's established herself as a movie star with films like Baby Mama and Date Night. She's a best-selling author. And now she's a hardcore rapper.
You read that right. Tina Fey hopped on to deliver the closing verse of Childish Gambino's (aka Donald Glover, who began as a writer on “30 Rock”) song “Real Estate” off his most recent mixtape Royalty (which can be downloaded here). The track is over five minutes long, and Fey comes in right at the end to drop a couple rhymes. I have to say, she sounds pretty decent. Is there nothing this woman can't do?
Here's a transcription of her verse, which contains some foul language because Tina Fey raps hard.
Yeah we in here, we in this thing
Gambino is forever, royalty is forever
We ballin’ till we f**k up the hardwood, homie
This the life we live, son
My president is black and my Prius is blue, motherf***er
Royalty all day, we droppin’ racks at Nordstrom, son
That’s racks on racks, dammit. You feel me? You feel me?
This is the part where most people would say something crazy and drop the N-word after it
Not going to, not gonna do that, I don’t feel comfortable!
I’m out!
The summer of Gambino continues with the release of the 18-song mixtape. It includes appearances by rappers like Ghostface Killah, RZA, Bun B, Nipsey Hussle, and Danny Brown. We're all awaiting his first release with Glassnote Records (and whether it will feature collaborations with other Glassnote artists like Mumford and Sons and Phoenix) but getting Tina Fey on a rap will definitely ease the wait.
