Beyonce Fuming over Lauryn Hill Diss at BET Awards

Beyonce changed her acceptance speech at the BET Awards to stand up for Lauryn Hill after an insult from the boy band, Mindless Behavior, drew gasps from the crowd.

While presenting the award for best R&B Artist, Comedian Mike Epps tried to sing and one of his co-presenters from Mindless Behavior joked, “you sing bad, like Lauryn Hill's tax accountant bad.”

Last Friday, Hill pleaded guilty to tax evasion for over 1.8 million dollars earned between 2005 and 2007.

The winner of the award for best R&B artist was Beyonce, who reportedly adjusted her speech to defend Lauryn Hill. “I want to thank all of the talented R&B women that came before me,” she said. “Like Lauryn Hill and Mary J. Blige.”

After Beyonce left the stage of the BET Awards she reportedly vented that the insult was “disrespectful” and “not cool.”

The incident harkens back to when Beyonce apologized for Kanye West's infamous outburst during the 2009 VMA's. In both instances, her statement was even-toned and considerate, cementing her status as the supreme diplomat of the entertainment industry— as well as being one of the greatest female performers of all time.

By now, award show producers must have learned that if anything unsettling happens during the ceremony, send Beyonce to smooth things over.
