San Francisco Giants
Performing now!
Plenty of familiar faces will be starting for the American and National Leagues in this year's MLB All-Star game as well as some new faces filling out both rosters. Mainstays like Derek Jeter, David Ortiz, Josh Hamilton, and Prince Fielder were voted in by the fans in the AL. On the NL side, Carlos Beltran, Joey Votto, and Matt Kemp will stand out to fans, but many first-timers like Melky Cabrera and Buster Posey will also be starting.
Fresh blood fills out the bench in the A.L. with young guns like Mike Trout, Mark Trumbo, Chris Sale, and Matt Weiters all making the roster. More established veterans like David Wright, Ryan Braun, Carlos Gonzalez, and Andrew McCutchen are on the bench for the NL. It will be weird to see an All-Star Game without names like Alex Rodriguez, Albert Pujols, Matt Holliday, Cliff Lee and Roy Halladay, Dustin Pedroia and Adrian Gonzalez, etc. but it's a sign that a new crop of talented players is ready to emerge.
The 2012 All Star Game will be held at Kauffman Stadium Stadium, home of the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday, July 10. The State Farm Home Run Derby held the day prior. The Yankees and Rangers stole the spotlight on the American League side where 3 members of each team were selected as starters. The Giants had 3 starters voted in by the fans as well on the National League side. The pitchers were selected by the reigning AL and NL World Series managers (Ron Washington and Tony La Russa) and the players alike. It's worth noting that Tony La Russa retired after last year's World Series and is no longer the Cardinals manager. The Reserves are voted on by the players solely and the final vote candidates are voted on by the fans. The American and National League All-Star Rosters are as follows.

Notable AL Snubs
2B Jason Kipnis, Indians: Kipnis has had a great season but being a rookie may be what kept him from making the 2012 AL All-Star team. He'll be making many All-Star game appearances in the future.
C A.J. Pierzynski, White Sox: Pierzynski has never really put up great offensive numbers until this season. The average fan may not think he's All-Star caliber, but he's putting together an All-Star type season at catcher for sure.
1B/DH Edwin Encarnicion, Blue Jays: Encarnacion is 5th in the AL in home runs, runs batted in and slugging percentage, but as a predominant DH he was on the ballot with David Ortiz and it's hard to argue in favor of Encarnacion over Ortiz.
OF Austin Jackson, Tigers: Despite the DL stint, Jackson has had himself a very productive 2012 season. He's 2nd in the AL in batting average, leads the AL in on base percentage and 5th in slugging percentage.
National League

OF: Melky Cabrera, San Francisco Giants

Dickey, Mets; Lance Lynn, Cardinals; Joel Hanrahan, Pirates; Huston Street, Padres; Matt Cain, Giants.
Reserves (Selected by players)
Cathers: Carlos Ruiz, Phillies; Yadier Molina, Cardinals.
Infielders: Starlin Castro, Cubs; Bryan LaHair, Cubs; Jose Altuve, Astros; David Wright, Mets; Ian Desmond, Nationals.
Outfielders: Jay Bruce, Reds; Carlos Gonzalez, Rockies; Ryan Braun, Brewers; Andrew McCutchen, Pirates; Giancarlo Stanton, Marlins.
Final Vote candidates (Voted on by fans)
Michael Bourn, Braves; David Freese, Cardinals; Bryce Harper, Nationals; Aaron Hill, Diamondbacks; Chipper Jones, Braves.
Notable NL Snubs
SP Johnny Cueto: Cueto is the biggest snub out of any player in my opinion. He owns the 5th best ERA in the NL and has a 9-4 record to go on top of that. It is believed that Tony La Russa left Cueto out of the NL roster because of the antics Cueto featured during the infamous brawl between the Reds and his former Cardinals team last season.
SP Zack Greinke: Greinke has been considered one of the best starting pitchers in the National League. Wade Miley of the Diamondbacks made it over Greinke because the Diamondback have no other All-Star representative so La Russa decided to go with Miley.
SP Madison Bumgarner: Bumgarner has been the Giants 2nd best starter this season behind Matt Cain. With Miley being chosen, the rest of the NL starters being pretty deserving, and with four Giants already on the All-Star roster, it was difficult to add Bumgarner to the exclusive list.
SP Chris Capuano: Capuano has surprised all of baseball with the kind of year he's had to this point. His numbers are deserving of an All-Star invitation, however, there are numerous starters ahead of him that are equally-or-more deserving. Also, Capuano has had an inconsistent career for the most part which shouldn't effect this years All-Star selections, but that might be the case.
