Pitbull Exiled Far Far Away From Calle Ocho

The Internet rallies to send the hip hop artist to a remote Walmart in Alaska.

In this article…

Kodiak, Alaska. Population 6130. This tiny frozen island is about to get a nice little visit from unwilling hip hop artist Armando Christian Perez, better known by his stage name Pitbull. As part of a promotion for Sheets Brand Energy Sheets, the artist will be performing at whichever Walmart location receives the most Facebook likes by July 15th. In a press release, Pitbull said “I'm excited to find out which local Walmart store has the most new likes so I can share the experience of using Energy Sheets with my fans.” Hopefully, those energy strips come in handy when the artist is on the run from bears in Alaska.

Led by Something Awful writers David Thorpe and Jon Hendren, the Internet rallied to send the rapper to the most remote location possible, far away from Calle Ocho in Miami. In an operation known by the Twitter hashtag, #ExilePitbull, over 20,000 users have liked the Walmart Kodiak Facebook page, putting the location currently at the top of the contest.

Apparently, the artist has already accepted his fate. Now say what you want about his music (is laughing and calling out street names in Spanish over a drum beat considered music?) but Pitbull seems to be taking the news in good humor. The rapper recently tweeted “I hear there's bear repellant at Kodiak, Alaska #exilepitbull daleeeeeee!” Aw, c'mon Pitbull. It's no fun if you're actually in on the joke. Whatever, dude. Hope you like frozen salmon.
