Kung fu is in the air today as Aesop Rock follows RZA's trailer for The Man With the Iron Fists with his own martial arts music video for “ZZZ Top” from his upcoming album Skelethon. The video features Patti Li, China's three-time wushu National All-Around Champion, fighting her way through a warehouse using fists, feet, and a collection of throwing knives.
Li's skills are evident and the fight choreography seems so natural that you might momentarily forget about the music itself during some most of the action sequences. But, if you take a moment to listen, you'll quickly notice that the hard-sounding lyrics actually provide a fitting soundtrack for this kung fu film. I call it that, rather than a music video, because it truly seems like a five-minute segment from the middle of a full-length. And, like any good martial arts film there's some suspense, some uncertainty as to who might actually win that final showdown. Find out for yourself and check out the video below.
