Lady Gaga vs. Justin Bieber: Gaga wins as one of America's most followed celebrities

Lady Gaga has been having triumph after triumph with so many achievements after the other that one never knows what to expect next, which is one of the main reasons why she has managed to attract so many fans and followers. The Observer newspaper in the UK indicated that Justin Bieber is more influential in the social networking sphere than Barack Obama or The Dalai lama. Bieber may have his own crazed set of fans that adore him, but in the twitter world, Gaga reigns. Bieber has more than 7 million followers on twitter, but Gaga has recently passed that record having more than 8 million followers, practically making her the most interesting person on the web. Too bad we couldn't have Gaga take part in the NBA All-Star celebrity game instead, since I’m sure she’d be attracting more real sports fan than Bieber could (at least the ones that could afford to go to a game). It makes more sense to have an American pop-star in our national American events rather than a 16 year old Canadian Pop-singer. Bieber should stick to his young audience promoting events such as Disney on Ice instead, getting all the millions of fans to ask to see Princess Classics, which by the way happens to be an awesome show! On demand tickets for that show are being sold at charged.fm (http://www.charged.fm/performer/item/1973/)

Some of gaga's biggest recognitions are: having won 2 grammy awards amongst 12 nominations, being included in Time magazine's annual Time 100 list of the most influential people in the world as well as Forbers' list of the 100 Most Powerful and Influential celebrities in the world, and Forbes placing her at number seven on their annual list of the World's 100 Most Powerful Women. Gaga is a universal star attracting all ages and races, so it's no surprise she has a million more followers than Bieber who is really just a teen heartthrob obsession right now. But I guess time will tell if it's just that, or if his "Never say Never" 3D  movie was able to convince the audience of his true talents.

While lady Gaga has millions of little monsters following her, she also has big friends like Elton John who really believe in her. Elton John believes that she will reign as the 'Queen of Pop' in the years to come as she is grounded and "amazingly polite and respectful to everyone around her." Though while Lady Gaga, Pink, and Mariah Carey were expecting to grace their anti-fur billboard for PETA, the animal rights organizations has cancelled the all-star advertisement for its "Fur-Free and Fabulous" campaign replacing it with Justin Beiber's latest campaign.

Though the business world is tough and there'll always be competition, Gaga and Bieber both deserve some credit for being multi-talented and more than just your average pop-singer, regardless of why they got their fame. "Gaga learned to play piano from the age of four, went on to write her first piano ballad at 13, began performing at open mike nights by age 14, and went to NYU's Tisch School of the Arts." Then despite the usual controversy around her music videos, Gaga was the first artist to gain over one billion viral views on YouTube. Bieber, As he grew up, taught himself to play the piano, drums, guitar, and trumpet. Though Bieber's single "Baby" surpassed Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" to become the most viewed YouTube video ever world-wide, this top-ten single also ranked as the "most viewed, most discussed, yet most disliked YouTube video.

At least, both have not forgotten to give back. Besides's Justin Bieber's choice to join PETA with their  campaign, he has released a collection of nail varnishes with OPI to raise awareness for charity, while Lady Gaga  held a concert of The Monster Ball Tour following the 2010 Haiti earthquake and dedicated it to the country’s reconstruction relief fund. This concert donated any received revenue to the relief fund while, in addition, all profits from sales of products on Gaga’s official online store on that same day were donated. Gaga announced that an estimated total of $500,000 was collected for the fund. Gaga also contributes in the fight against HIV and AIDS with the focus upon educating young women about the risks of the disease. Gaga joined forces with MAC Cosmetics to launch a line of lipstick for which all net proceeds were donated to the cosmetic company’s campaign to prevent HIV and AIDS worldwide. Gaga declared, "I don't want Viva Glam to be just a lipstick you buy to help a cause. I want it to be a reminder when you go out at night to put a condom in your purse right next to your lipstick."

Though normally it's not a good thing when people say something is "all over the place", in this case it may not be a bad thing at all. Lady Gaga is for sure "all over the place" and all that's doing is bringing in more and more profit. Bieber is also all over the place and that's something his movie will make sure to promote and we'll see in due time if it accomplished its goal. So congratulations to both Bieber and Gaga for all their projects and of course upcoming events such as their current tours, both stopping by MSG this month.
