Carly Rae Jepsen
Performing July 4th, 2013
I suppose there is a reason why I can't get those catchy lyrics out of my head. A big congratulations are in order for Canada's current sweetheart, Carly Rae Jepsen as she knocks Belgian-Aussie Gotye's “Somebody That I Used to Know” out of the top place on the US Billboard Hot 100. Jepsen, who reached popularity in Canada this past February, has made it big in the US after fellow Canadian Justin Bieber publicly endorsed the singer.
Since then, the singer has sold more than 3 million downloads of the catchy (and slightly addicting) pop single and is the first female to reach the top spot on the Hot 100 with a debut single since Ke$ha's “Tik Tok,” reports the Hollywood Reporter. She also performed with Bieber last weekend as he took the stage in London at Capital FM's Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium— an honor on its own.
The singer celebrated with a little bubbly and documented the moment on Twitter with her 1,123,870+ followers, graciously sending ten subsequent tweets thanking those who had helped her along the way.

With countless covers, sing-a-long music videos made by fellow young celebrities, and a great publicity team, this young British Columbia native is continuing to grow in global popularity. I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more of this young star in the future.
