Brace yourselves: the fans are coming. Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, the film almost guaranteed to top box office records this summer premieres on July 20th. There’s only about a month left for you anxious moviegoers, but guess what? Tickets are out now. Go ahead, I’ll wait.
How about a magic trick? Check out those seats for
the midnight showing in IMAX (which features roughly an hour of extra footage).
Now you see them, now you don’t. Rabid fans everywhere are snatching up tickets
quickly, so you’d better hurry. In fact, when tickets went on sale earlier today
at the IMAX Theatre website in Sydney and Melbourne, Australian fans promptly
crashed the ticketing software by opening multiple tabs to reserve their seats.
In 2008, The
Dark Knight broke records everywhere with its box office opening of over
$158 million. According to Box Office Mojo, The
Avengers and Harry Potter and the
Deathly Hallows Part 2 have since surpassed those ticket sales. Come July
20th, will the brooding crime fighter (Christian Bale) along with
Bane (Tom Hardy) and Catwoman (Anne Hathaway) be enough to knock those two off
the top? With thousands of people buying TDKR
tickets every minute, it seems more and more likely.
If you’ve been living in the Batcave for the past
couple of months, check out the trailer for The
Dark Knight Rises here:
