Japandroids
Performing in 2 days
I had only heard of Vancouver rock duo Japandroids because of their awesome band name. I mean, how cool is Japandroids? It doesn't get much cooler than that. But after watching the group perform on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” last night, it's clear that this group is much more than just an awesome name. They can rock.
First, the duo performed “Fire's Highway” and were then joined by “Captain” Kirk Douglas of the Roots for “The House That Heaven Built.” Both tracks are off their new album Celebration Rock, which is getting rave reviews. NPR called it the best rock album of the year so far.
Here's the band's first performance:
That's a lot of energy and sounds produced from just two guys. Seems hard to believe, and that makes it that much more impressive. My only qualm with the video doesn't come from the band, but from one of the guys standing by the railing. The dude in the blue button-down doesn't move the entire time. How can you not at least rock or head bob to such an awesome an energetic song? If you're not going to rock out, give up your spot to someone else. It's called common courtesy.
Finally, here's their performance with “Captain” Kirk Douglas.
Japandroids are currently on tour, so I recommend checking them out when they come to your neck of the woods.
Let CHARGED.fm get you tickets to see Japandroids in NYC at Bowery Ballroom.
