Update: Via Consequence of Sound, According to Def Jam, Channel Orange is the title of Ocean’s debut album, and it will be released on July 17th.

Earlier today rapper and hip-hop artist Frank Ocean posted a brief video on his tumblr previewing his upcoming project “Channel Orange.” Just what is “Channel Orange,” you ask? Great question! The video, which focuses on a car as a previously unheard track plays in the background, suddenly cuts to an orange screen previewing “Channel Orange's” approaching release on July 17, 2012. Speculators suggest the mysterious teaser heralds a new song or even the full-length album we've all been anxiously awaiting. As for me, this video has raised my hopes for an LP.

We'll have to wait before we can know the nature of the project for sure, but in the meantime check out the video for yourselves:
