The former Fleet Foxes drummer has a new solo project, and his performance on “Letterman” was captivating.

Watch: Father John Misty's Amazing

In this article…

The Fleet Foxes are one of my favorite alternative/folk rock groups out there today.  They can harmonize as well as anyone out there, and all those guys are just flat-out talented.  Their drummer, J. Tillman, left the group because he was tired of being just the drummer.  His new group, which he leads, is called Father John Misty.  They were on "Letterman" last night, and here's what UPROXX had to say about it:

I’m just gonna go out on a limb here and say that it’s a good thing former Fleet Foxes drummer J. Tillman left the band to focus on a solo career under the moniker Father John Misty, because dude is one of the more natural, flamboyant front men I’ve seen in a while.

Seriously, watch this clip of him performing “Only Son Of The Ladiesman” on Letterman last night and try to take your eyes off of him. It’s just can’t be done. Dude is shooting star blazing through the galaxy at warp speed.

High praise, for sure.  Take a look at the video below, with some of my thoughts after:

Wow.  Wow wow wow.  Not only is that a really fun song (and you can hear the Fleet Foxes in Tillman's voice, which is nice), but that is one hell of an entertaining group to watch perform.  Tillman just owns it on the stage.  He goes for it, and does he ever get it.  Everything hit for me, and I was completely transfixed by the performance.  Not to be outdone, the guitarist behind him was quite animated as well.  This looks like one of the most fun bands to watch live, and how convenient that the group is embarking on a tour soon!
