Jeremy Evans to Replace Iman Shumpert in Dunk Contest

With Shumpert’s knee bothering him, he’s been replaced by one of the brightest young dunkers in the league.

Jeremy Evans to Replace Iman Shumpert in Dunk Contest

As excited as we all were about the possibilities of an Iman Shumpert/Jeremy Lin collaboration during this year's dunk contest, that couch dream is no more.  Shumpert's knee tendinitis will keep him out of the event.  No Shumpert, no Lin, and now no couch.

But when God closes one door, he opens another one.  Shumpert's replacement in the contest will be Utah Jazz forward Jeremy Evans.  This is terrific news for those of you who like dunks, players dunking, and exciting incredible dunks.  There was hope that Evans would be included in the original lineup, especially given the support of the online community with the whole #LetJeremyDunk movement on Twitter.  In fact, the hash tag lives on and was incredibly excited when the announcement came today:

So what can we expect from Evans?  Let's take a look at some of his work over his 1+ seasons in the league.

For the few of you that weren't impressed with that, here is a mix of pretty spectacular dunks.

Evans should have been in from the beginning, and we should all be excited about what he can do during the Dunk Contest.
