Beck, Modest Mouse Headlining Governor's Ball Festival in NYC

New York City in the summertime is a hot spot for live music, from the big shows at MSG to the tiny venues scattered throughout the city.  When the weather cooperates, its outdoor venues prove to be amazing settings for a show.  Expect this to be no different.  NYC's Governor's Ball Festival announced its diverse lineup today which includes acts like Beck, Modest Mouse, Chromeo, Passion Pit, and Cults.  Dave Lewis of Hitfix has more:

Beck and Modest Mouse are both coming out of hibernation this summer and will headline New York City's upcoming 2-day Governor's Ball Festival in June. This will be Beck's first show in the Big Apple in four years.

The Day One line-up features more dance-oriented and hip-hop acts including such notables as Chromeo, Atmosphere, Duck Sauce, Santigold, Major Lazer, LCD Soundsystem vet James Murphy's Special Disco Version, and Passion Pit, who haven't played a show in NYC for over two years.

Meanwhile, Day Two is turning up the rock (and looking an awful lot like the late '90s) with such acclaimed veteran acts as Beck, Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, Explosions in the Sky and Devendra Banhart being joined by newer acts like Cults, Phantogram and Cage the Elephant.

Seeing Beck and Modest Mouse touring again leads Lewis and others to think that new music is on the horizon for those two.  Beck is already one of the headliners for the Sasquatch festival, and Modest Mouse did a little touring last year.  I'm eager to hear what these guys have been working on since it's been a while for both groups.  It will also be fun to hear if acts like Passion Pit have any new stuff.  What better place to catch all this than New York City during the summer?

Here's the complete list of bands that will appear on June 23 and 24:
