NBA Predictions Roundup

How did CHARGED.fm do at picking last night’s games?

NBA Predictions Roundup

Last night, I tried my hand at predicting NBA winners.  Seems easy enough, right?  It turns out I don't have as clear a view of the future as I initially thought.  Let's see how my predictions turned out.

Cleveland Cavaliers over New York Knicks - This one I nailed.  The Knicks shot pretty poorly from the field in this one, and Cleveland's ball movement and defense stymied New York.  It should be noted that no one scored over 20 points in this game.  One for one.

Philadelphia 76ers over New Jersey Nets - Deron Williams, you ridiculously talented man you.  He single-handedly beat the Sixers last night in overtime and put up a ridiculous 34 points/11 assists line.  I didn't think one man could take down a team as deep as Philadelphia.  I was terribly wrong.

Charlotte Bobcats over Washington Wizards - It turns out all the Wizards needed to get back to winning was a coaching change.  Who would have thunk it?  Certainly not me.

Miami Heat over Detroit Pistons - This one was a lot closer than I thought it would be.  With the way the Pistons had been laying down to teams the past few games, I thought the Heat would come in and steamroll Detroit.  That wasn't the case as Austin Daye finally broke out for 28 points to keep the Pistons in it.   The Heat still picked up the win and got me back on the W side.

Oklahoma City Thunder over New Orleans Hornets - The Thunder took care of business pretty easily, getting a 10-point win.  At 15-3, the Thunder have the best record in the NBA right now.  They certainly seem like the best team in the league at the moment.

Chicago Bulls over Indiana Pacers - Indiana shot much better in this one and came away with a five-point win.  Maybe the division match-up got the Pacers especially fired up for this one.

Houston Rockets over Milwaukee Bucks - Steven Jackson's return to the lineup really propelled the Bucks last night.  He dropped in 20, and Ersan Ilyasova racked up 19 rebounds.  I'm in desperate need of a correct prediction very soon.  This is starting to get embarrassing.

Atlanta Hawks over San Antonio Spurs - The Spurs pounded the Hawks by 22.  I should have never doubted you, Greg Popovich.  I deserve your icy glare:

Minnesota Timberwolves over Dallas Mavericks - The Wolves just have the Mavericks' number this year.  Call it the curse of J.J. Barea.  And even though Love didn't have a 40-40 game, he still put up an impressive 31 and 10.   Congrats again on that contract, big fella.

Toronto Raptors over Utah Jazz - Linas Kleiza is back, everyone!  He poured in 25 for the Raptors in their win over the Jazz last night.  It's the power of the fossils, man.

Denver Nuggets over Sacramento Kings - Danilo Gallinari led the Nuggets with 23 points on just 12 shots as this balanced Denver team just continues to cruise.  They blew out Sacramento by 29 points.  And that's three correct picks in a row.  I'm feeling pretty good right now.

Portland Trail Blazers over Golden State Warriors - Despite Marcus Camby following his 3 point, 22 rebound outing up with a 4 point, 16 rebound showing, the Warriors had just too much offense.  Steph Curry got back into the swing of things with 32 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds to lead the way.  Is it just me, or has Portland fallen back down to Earth a little bit?

Los Angeles Lakers over Los Angeles Clippers - It feels good to get the last game right.  There was no way Kobe was going to let the Clips take two in a row from the Lakers.

So the final record is: 7-6.  I'm going to return those Tarot cards I bought, they must be broken.
